TFI Autumn Reading Misson: Read A Children’s Book

You must be filled with expectancy. You must be awash in hope. You must wonder who will love you, whom you will love next.   ~ Goodreads via      I can't even count how many times I've read this book.   I've always loved stuffed animals and dolls ( maybe a little too much ).   I remember snuggling up with my favorite stuffed animal, Woof Woof , and reading this book with him.   You may not think a story about a vain porcelain rabbit would be full of action and raw emotion, but it is.       The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is the story of a porcelain rabbit named Edward.   He is doted on by his owner, Abilene Tulane.   Edward believes that Abilene is only for his comfort and protection.   He cannot stand it whenever any display of affection is shown towards him.   Later, Edward gets thrown off of a ship while on a trip with Abilene.   He is then picked up in a net by a fisherman and begins a very different, much less glamorous, life. "I still have a soul."   ~ Goodreads ( it's signed, btw.   be jelly.)    Every time I start to review this book, I feel like a need a disclaimer.   Being that Mirriam and I are friends, some think I'm just trying to help her sell books when I praise it repeatedly.   Truly, I'm not.   I am obsessed with this book, and would probably still be obsessed with it even if Stephanie Meyer wrote it.   (Not that she could've written this well, though.)     Monster is the story of Eva, a doctor who is desperately attempting to find a cure for Morbus, a terrible plague that killed her family.   The cure is being researched on people who are considered nonhuman: people who were born human but are somehow not considered "up to par" with everyone else.   When Eva gets promoted to Handler, she experiments on the subjects firsthand and begins to discover dark secrets that had been hidden from the public eye. TFI Autumn Reading Mission: Read A Book About Sisters

"Step follows step, Hope follows Courage, Set your face towards danger, Set your heart on victory." ~ Goodreads via      Gail Carson Levine was the first author that I really obsessed over.   It started with a library copy of Ella Enchanted and ran from there.   I now own several of her books and have read many others by her from the library.   I've read The Two Princesses of Bamarre so many times since I got it.   It was my favorite book all during middle school!     The Two Princesses of Bamarre is the story of two sisters, Addie and Meryl.   Meryl is brave and adventurous, always looking for a new enemy to overcome.   Addie is timid, shy, and constantly expecting something terrible to happen.   When Meryl contracts a deadly disease, Addie must overcome her darkest fears and save her life. TFI Autumn Reading Mission: Read Something with a Place in the Title

"The important thing was that he was there, as much a part of the rock, the water, the beach, the house, as they had come to be part of him."   ~ Goodreads      For today's challenge, I read A Place Called Ugly by Avi.   It certainly was not my favorite, but on Goodreads it has several favorable reviews.   The whole book felt a little bit like reading about my sister's temper tantrums to me (she's three).   If you'd really like all my thoughts, you can read them  here on Goodreads.   (Mine is the review by Anna Catherine.)      Owen is fourteen, and he doesn't like changes.   It's bad enough that his big brother and sister aren't with him on vacation this year, but at the end of the summer the family discovers that their old vacation house is getting torn down to make room for a hotel.   Owen is devastated, and vows to not let anyone tear the house down.   This is the story of his emotional journey as he begins to let go of one of h

"She felt like a tiger in a cage, trying to burst free." ~ Goodreads      Another Tuesday, another TFI reading challenge.   ☺   Today, I read Nim's Island by Wendy Orr.   I was a big fan of the movie when I was younger.   I watched it all the time!   I was disappointed about the newer film (which I own but haven't watched, haha) because of the recasting (of EVERY. SINGLE. CHARACTER.).   That is, until last week when I made this discovery (which I posted about on Facebook): (I'm a huge Bindi Irwin fan.   Don't judge.)      Nim's Island is the story of a young girl, Nim, who lives on an island all alone with her father, Jack.   Jack is a scientist who particularly enjoys studying plankton.   When a storm hits while Jack is away researching, Nim is left all alone on the island with only her animal friends to protect her.   When Alex Rover, the adventure writer, discovers that Nim is all alone, he (or is it she?) must take action.
