TFI Autumn Reading Mission: Read Something with a Place in the Title

"The important thing was that he was there, as much a part of the rock, the water, the beach, the house, as they had come to be part of him."   ~Goodreads

For today's challenge, I read A Place Called Ugly by Avi.   It certainly was not my favorite, but on Goodreads it has several favorable reviews.   The whole book felt a little bit like reading about my sister's temper tantrums to me (she's three).   If you'd really like all my thoughts, you can read them here on Goodreads.   (Mine is the review by Anna Catherine.)

Owen is fourteen, and he doesn't like changes.   It's bad enough that his big brother and sister aren't with him on vacation this year, but at the end of the summer the family discovers that their old vacation house is getting torn down to make room for a hotel.   Owen is devastated, and vows to not let anyone tear the house down.   This is the story of his emotional journey as he begins to let go of one of his favorite places.
